Version 3

Here’s some more background on the song:
The song Street Spirit Fade Out by Radiohead is a song that was written by the group in 1993. It is otherwise known as “Street Spirit”. It came out in their second album, “The Bends” which debuted in 1995. It was released as their ninth single. The song reached the number five spot on the UK charts.

None of the band members claim to have written the song. Lead singer Thom Yorke said that the song wrote itself. It is generally know to be one of the saddest songs written by Radiohead.

The song is a dark and lonely one but it does bring one close to reality. The lyrics in their brokenness seem to add some meaning to real life but what love immense love has to do with it all is still a mystery.

The music video for the song came out later in February 1996 and directed by Jonathan Glazer. The video is shot in complete black and white. The scenes in the video are a collection of disconnected shots, some comical, others hard to understand. There is no narrative in the video. The music for the video adds only to the sombre mood of the song, bringing the meaning home. The setting of the video is in a trailer park and most of the video is shot in front of one older trailer. The combination of extreme slow motion and shots using different frame frequencies add to the message the lyrics.

The lyrics are meant to make one feel very small in an intimidating world. The song Street Spirit Fade Out by Radiohead is a classic fan favourite, enduring and memorable. On Youtube the comment left by one viewer is that it is the best video ever! The stats speak for themselves. As of this writing, there are over 5,982,000 views!
